Early Work-

these were all pieces I did in high school between the age of 15 and 16. I took the assignments and pushed them as far as I could while still fulfilling the requirements- often adding 3D bits or other twists. I loved surrealism at the time, even before I really knew much about it. While I didn't appreciate her at the time (feeling horribly constrained and rebellious, as teenagers will be), I realize now how amazing my high school art teacher was.

This was my second graphite drawing in a class. 9/92

Beauty and the Beholder- another class assignment- my first conte drawing 11/92

a Vanitas/Cubism assignment, 1/93

Tower (altered space assignment), '94

These 2 paintings were my first commission- a mural in a Cafe ("Congo Square") on the 3rd Street promenade. 1993. I was 16, and spent nights after school and Ju-Jitsu practice painting until around 11PM every night, in the company of the chess players who played there. The cafe has since changed ownership and the room they were in has been converted to a kitchen.

Aside from a small card, these two are my first acrylic paintings. I just assumed I would know how and took the job.
