She Reveals Hidden Color (part of the collaborative Interwoven: Icons and Ideas project)

In the mask one can see the internally projected images of passion, power and freedom in intense hot colors fading from one to the next. The images are distorted in such a way that the viewer must step in close and shift to see them.

The clothing is taken from the 1880's-90s. It is a period right on the verge of women's liberation but at the same time a time with more restrictions for women than any other. The clothing reflects those restrictions, and yet the mask provides an oppurtunity to escape, fantasize and be Other.
