About
This piece came out of the collaborative project (organized and conceived by Mary March) "Icons and Ideas" for the Transcultural Exchange Center. Artists used images and ideas from other artists to create a new work. This piece used Sophie Menuet's Mask image together with a combination of Annysa Ng's "See the Visible Invisible" and Sophie Menuet's "Unquiet Mind".
The stills from the video come out of asking women of all kinds for their personal visuals of passion, power and freedom. Only one half of the image may be seen at one time, and the viewer must lean in and look into her eyes to see the image.
The mask both physically veils and visually reveals the inner person.
